The Elite African Super League (EASL) was created with one purpose in mind: to provide a professional, structured, and competitive platform where African talent and global players can compete at the highest standard of organization, integrity, and excellence.
Modeled in professionalism after competitions such as the FIFA World Cup and the UEFA Champions League, EASL is committed to clear governance, fairness, safety, and competitive balance.
This document outlines the official rules and regulations that govern the EASL tournament. All participating teams, players, coaches, and officials are required to comply fully with these regulations.
The EASL Tournament consists of ONE phase:
1.1 Knockout Stage
• Round of 16
• Quarterfinals
• Semifinals
• Final
All knockout matches are single-elimination.
If a knockout match ends in a draw after full-time:
• No extra time.
• The match will be decided by penalty shootout (5 kicks per team, then sudden death).
2.1 Squad Size
• Minimum: 18 players
• Maximum: 25 players
• A team must register its final squad before the official deadline.
• No additions allowed after the registration window closes (except for approved injury replacements)
2.2 Player Eligibility
To participate in EASL:
• Players must be officially registered through the EASL Player Registration Form.
• Players must meet age eligibility requirements (16+).
• Players must submit signed waivers and liability agreements.
• Players must not be registered with multiple EASL teams during the same season.
Dual registration or false documentation will result in disciplinary action.
3.1 Match Duration
• Two halves of 45 minutes.
• 15-minute halftime interval.
• Added time at referee’s discretion.
3.2 Substitutions
• Maximum of 5 substitutions per match.
• Substitutions must occur within designated substitution windows.
• A substituted player may not re-enter the match.
3.3 Match Ball
All matches will be played using EASL-approved match balls that meet professional standards.
3.4 Technical Area
• Only registered players and authorized staff are permitted in the technical area.
• Coaches must maintain professional conduct.
• Abuse of referees or officials will not be tolerated.
4.1 Yellow and Red Cards
Single Yellow Card = $5 Fine
Any player who receives one yellow card during a match will be issued a $5 fine.
• The $5 fine applies to each individual yellow card received.
• A yellow card received in one match will be added to the player’s accumulated yellow-card record for the tournament.
• A single yellow card does not result in an automatic match suspension.
• Yellow cards will accumulate across matches throughout the tournament, subject to the accumulation and suspension rules outlined below.
Three Accumulated Yellow Cards = $15 Fine + 1-Match Suspension
Any player who accumulates three yellow cards across separate matches during the tournament will receive a $15 fine and an automatic one-match suspension.
• The one-match suspension will take effect in the player’s next scheduled match.
• The three yellow cards must be accumulated over multiple matches. This rule does not apply to two yellow cards in a single match and a yellow card in a different match.
• Upon receiving the third accumulated yellow card, the player will automatically become subject to a one-match suspension.
• The $15 fine is the total fine for the three accumulated yellow cards. It is not an additional $15 charge on top of the individual $5 fines.
• Once the player has served the suspension, the three yellow cards that triggered the suspension will be cleared from the player’s accumulation record. Any subsequent yellow cards will count toward a new accumulation cycle.
• Accumulated yellow cards will not be transferred between players or teams.
Red Card = $30 Fine + 1-Match Suspension
Any player who receives a direct red card during an EASL match will automatically receive a $30 fine and a one-match suspension.
• The one-match suspension will take effect in the player’s next scheduled match.
• A direct red card will result in an automatic suspension regardless of the score, match stage, or circumstances in which the red card was received.
• A red card is a separate disciplinary offense and is not subject to the three-yellow-card accumulation rule.
• Receiving a red card does not cancel any outstanding fines or suspensions resulting from previously accumulated yellow cards.
• The EASL Disciplinary Committee reserves the right to impose additional sanctions in cases involving violent conduct, serious foul play, abusive language, discriminatory behavior, or other serious misconduct.
Two Yellow Cards in a Single Match = $20 Fine + 1-Match Suspension
Any player who receives two yellow cards in the same match, resulting in a red card, will receive a $20 fine and an automatic one-match suspension.
• The one-match suspension will take effect in the player’s next scheduled match.
• This rule applies specifically when a player receives a second yellow card during the same match and is consequently sent off.
• The $20 fine is the total fine for the two yellow cards received in that match. It replaces the standard $5-per-yellow-card fines for those two cards and is not an additional charge.
• The player will be required to leave the field immediately following the second yellow card and may not participate further in that match.
• The two yellow cards received in that match will not count toward the three-yellow-card accumulation threshold.
• Any yellow cards accumulated in previous matches will remain on the player’s disciplinary record unless they have already been cleared under the applicable accumulation rules.
• The two-yellow-card dismissal will be recorded as a red-card dismissal for match and disciplinary purposes. However, the applicable fine will remain $20 rather than the $30 fine for a direct red card.
4.1.1 Yellow Card Accumulation and Suspension Clarification
• Yellow cards accumulated across different matches count toward the three-yellow-card threshold.
• Two yellow cards received in the same match resulting in a dismissal are treated separately and do not trigger the three-yellow-card accumulation rule.
• A player cannot receive three yellow cards in a single match under these regulations because a second yellow card results in a red card and dismissal.
• A player serving a suspension remains ineligible to participate until the full suspension has been served.
• If a player receives a disciplinary sanction at the end of a tournament stage, the suspension will carry over to the next EASL match for which the player is eligible, including a subsequent tournament stage or edition, as determined by the EASL Organizing Committee.
• The one-match suspension will take effect in the player’s next scheduled match.
4.1.2 Payment and Enforcement
• All disciplinary fines must be paid before the player’s next scheduled match following the offense.
• Each team is responsible for ensuring that its players are informed of their disciplinary obligations and that all applicable fines are paid before the required deadline.
• A fine must be paid in full before the player participates in their next eligible match. Payment cannot be postponed until after the match.
• Failure to pay a fine does not cancel, postpone, or replace an imposed suspension.
• Any player with an outstanding fine after the payment deadline may be subject to additional disciplinary measures, including suspension or restrictions on participation, as determined by the EASL Organizing Committee.
• All fines and suspensions will be officially documented and tracked by the tournament administration.
• No player, coach, or team may independently waive, reduce, extend, or disregard a disciplinary fine or suspension.
• The EASL Organizing Committee reserves the right to verify all payments and enforce compliance before a player’s participation in any subsequent match.
4.1.3 Disciplinary Authority and Final Decisions
The EASL Disciplinary Committee shall have the authority to review disciplinary incidents, verify match reports, enforce fines and suspensions, and impose additional sanctions where necessary.
All teams and players are required to comply with these regulations. Any attempt to circumvent a suspension, conceal a disciplinary offense, or interfere with the enforcement of a fine may result in further disciplinary action.
The EASL Organizing Committee retains final authority over the administration and interpretation of these disciplinary regulations.
4.1.4 Violent Conduct & Misconduct
The following actions may result in severe disciplinary measures:
• Physical aggression
• Racism or discriminatory behavior
• Threatening officials
• Match-fixing or bribery
If teams are tied on points, ranking will be determined by:
1. Goal difference
2. Goals scored
3. Head-to-head results
4. Fair play record (fewer yellow/red cards)
5. Drawing of lots (if necessary)
6.1 Official Kits
• Each team must submit Home and Away kits.
• Jerseys must display:
• Player number (back)
• Team crest
• EASL logo (optional)
• Goalkeepers must wear colors distinct from both teams.
6.2 Shin Guards
Shin guards are mandatory for all players.
6.3 Prohibited Equipment
Players may not wear:
• Jewelry
• Metal accessories
• Dangerous equipment
Referees have final authority on equipment compliance.
7. Referees & Match Officials
All referees assigned to EASL matches:
• Are certified and trained.
• Have full authority during matches.
• Their decisions are final regarding on-field play.
The EASL Disciplinary Committee may review incidents post-match.
EASL prioritizes player safety.
• Concussion protocols will be enforced.
• Severe injuries will stop play immediately.
• Emergency evacuation procedures will be established at each venue.
No match will proceed without proper safety compliance.
All participants must uphold:
• Respect for opponents
• Respect for referees
• Respect for fans
• Professional behavior
EASL represents more than football — it represents leadership, culture, and excellence.
Any behavior that damages the integrity of the competition may result in fines, suspensions, or expulsion.
• Official protests must be submitted in writing within 24 hours of the match.
• Appeals must include evidence.
• The EASL Disciplinary Committee will review all cases.
• Decisions are final.
EASL retains exclusive rights over:

Any violation will result in immediate investigation and severe penalties.
Integrity is the foundation of this league.
The EASL Organizing Committee reserves the right to:
• Amend regulations when necessary
• Clarify interpretations
• Enforce decisions in the best interest of the competition
Participation in the EASL Tournament constitutes full agreement with all rules and regulations stated above.
The Elite African Super League is not just a tournament. It is a movement.
Inspired by global governing standards set by FIFA and UEFA, EASL is building a structured, transparent, and world-class platform that empowers players to compete with pride and professionalism.
As the Founder, Shadrack Kitambogo envisioned a league where structure meets opportunity — where discipline meets talent — and where dreams are given a real stage.
Every whistle, every match, every trophy lifted will stand on one foundation:
Fairness. Structure. Excellence.
This is EASL.
Your Talent. Your Stage. Your Chance.
